Moving from Moscow Mills, a small town north of St. Louis, Shawn Vomund attended Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. Attaining his degree in Instrumental Music Education, while studying Jazz Studies performance on the side, lead to many opportunities to help area schools in Springfield schools and surrounding districts, gaining experience from giving lessons to Jazz guitar players, acting as a woodwind technician for area marching bands, and assisting in offering personal lessons to students to prepare them for solo and ensemble state/district contest as well as district/state band auditions. In 2014, Vomund began teaching at Springfield Music, a local instrument store, giving private lessons for guitar students. Later, in 2016, Vomund moved to Palen Music in order to teach woodwinds as well as guitar, and is still teaching private lessons there today. Vomund is now teaching band at Parkview High School as well as Westport Middle School and Elementary School, teaching 5th Grade Orchestra and 6th Grade Band, beginning his first year of teaching in public schools. Away from work, Vomund is engaged to be wed in the summer of 2018, enjoys camping, canoeing, and swimming, and also is an avid gamer in the colder months.
